FanDuel MLB Lineup for Friday May 22

The Memorial Day weekend has arrived as we get set for a weekend full of Major League Baseball. This opens up a ton of opportunities for fantasy owners to cash in on FanDuel. That includes Friday Night as we get a chance to use a few of the games top starters.

One of those starters is Felix Hernandez for the Seattle Mariners as they take on the Blue Jays in Toronto. On the season Hernandez is 6-1 with a 2.30 earned run average with his first loss coming in his last outing. Looking ahead at tomorrow night’s game the Blue Jays current roster is hitting .189 off the former CY Young with a slugging percentage of .320 in 127 at bats.

The other top starter taking the mound is Max Scherzer for the Washington Nationals as they take on the Philadelphia Phillies. Scherzer has posted four straight double-digit fantasy performances. As far as the Phillies career production off of Scherzer they are currently hitting .29 with just one home run in 114 career at bats with five runs batted in.

Outside of the top options on the mound another name to consider at a cheaper alternative is Mike Leake for the Cincinnati Reds. Leake has struggled in back to back outings but had posted three straight double-digit fantasy performances. Tomorrow night he will take the mound against a Cleveland Indians team that is hitting a combined .152 off of  him in 66 starts with zero home runs.

Here is our MLB FanDuel lineup for Friday May 22nd.

P –  Max Scherzer ($11,700): We elected to go with the most expensive starter on the market in Scherzer. The Nationals have been playing red hot as well increasing his fantasy value.

C – Wellington Castillo ($2,200): Castillo got the start for the Mariners on Friday after being acquired by the team this week from the Cubs. We recommend monitoring his situation as he is the backup to Mike Zunino. That being said Castill has four career home runs off of Marco Estrada in just 21 career at bats. Another option to look at is Michael McKenry for the Colorado Rockies at only $2,700.

First Base – Adrian Gonzalez ($4,200): Sticking with past track records landed us with Gonzalez. The Los Angeles Dodgers first baseman is hitting .357 off of Andrew Cashner for his career with four home runs in 28 at bats.

Second Base – Thomas Feld ($2,400): Looking for a FanDuel Bargain landed us with Feld for the Texas Rangers. The Rangers second baseman has been a solid fantasy option since his call up on May 11th including five games with at least 1.25 fantasy points in a nine game stretch including a game with 6.5 and a game with 9.5 fantasy points.

Third Base – Juan Uribe ($2,300): While we love the matchup we are also concerned over the way the Dodgers have been using Uribe and his off days. Uribe has eight career hits off of Cashner in 20 career at bats. Uribe would provide us with some salary cap relief.

Short Stop – J.J. Hardy ($2,300): Hardy is one of the better hitting short stops in the game add in his salary cap number of $2,300 and we have found some more cap relief. Hardy has three straight games with a hit as the Baltimore Orioles make their way down south to take on the Miami Marlins.

Outfielder – Carlos Gonzalez ($3,300): We considered a few options in the outfield in the end we landed with Gonzalez as an option. Gonzalez has six games with positive fantasy numbers in his last seven contests.

Outfielder – Brandon Barnes ($3,000): Barnes is coming off a four hit performance on Thursday opening up this spot in our lineup tonight. Now if you find out Castillo is not playing and have to spend less in the outfield consider using Melky Cabrera for the Chicago White Sox.

Outfielder – Adam Jones ($3,400): We are still waiting for Jones to break out with a big time fantasy performance. The Orioles outfielder is a hot/cold style hitter so once the long ball shows up consider riding him a few days in a row. Jones is five for 11 off of Henderson Alvarez in his career with one home run.
