Fantasy Baseball Action for Friday August 22

Jayson Werth success against Tim Hudson earns him a start on Friday August 22nd. The Washington Nationals outfielder has posted an 1.118 ops against Hudson in 41 career at bats against the San Francisco Giants starter.

In 41 career at bats, Werth has 15 hits, including seven extra base hits and three home runs. The fantasy production doesn’t stop there as Werth has drove in 11 runs and picked up five walks.

Werth is atop the list of top 10 fantasy players to start on Friday August 22nd.

Jayson Werth, Outfielder: Werth enters Fridays matchup with six hits in his last 14 at bats, including two doubles and three runs batted in. This type of production along with his past success against Tim Hudson warrants him a start in the outfield.

Josh Willingham, Outfielder: The Kanas City Royals head to Texas to take on the Rangers in a hitters ballpark. Willingham will face off against Ranger starter Colby Lewis. In 22 at bats against Lewis, Willingham has six extra base hits, including three home runs and five runs batted in.

Yovani Gallardo, Starting Pitcher: Gallardo has had a ton of success in his career against the Pittsburgh Pirates hitters. Heading into Friday’s game, the Pirates have picked up only 47 hits in 224 career at bats verse Gallardo. In his last two starts Gallardo pitched 15 innings, allowing only one earned run in each start and picking up two wins.
 

 
Garrett Jones, First Baseman: Jones and the Miami Marlins head to take on the Colorado Rockies. Jones has had success against Rockies starter Jordan Lyles in the past picking up nine hits in 16 career at bats including two home runs.

Darwin Barney, Second Baseman: The Dodgers second baseman has had solid success against New York Mets starter Jon Niese. Barney has picked up five hits in 12 career at bats.

Chris Johnson, Third Baseman: The Atlanta Braves head to Cincinnati to take on Mat Latos and the Reds. Johnson is one Brave that has had success against Latos in his career posting a .412 average in 17 career at bats with four extra base hits.

Zack Cozart, Short Stop: Cozart headline all short stops for Friday with his past success against Mike Minor. In 10 career at bats verse the Braves starter, Cozart has four hits including two home runs.

Russell Martin, Catcher: Martin is one of two Pirates to have success Gallardo with five hits in 16 career at bats. Typically Martin wouldn’t be an option but the success rate of the other catchers verses the starting pitchers on Friday night is very low.

Mark Teixeira, First Baseman: The Yankees first baseman is hitting .533 in his career verse John Danks. In 15 career at bats Teixeira has picked up eight hits including three extra base hits.

Andrew McCutchen, Outfielder: McCutchen has hit Gallardo well in his career picking up 15 hits in 59 at bats including three home runs. Only concern with McCutchen is with his zero hits in two games since returning from the disabled list.
