Fantasy Football Week 8 Preview

Cam Newton, Russell Wilson set to carry fantasy owners in week 8 as they square off. Wilson will guide his Seattle Seahawks into Carolina to take on the Panthers led by Newton. These two quarterbacks offer their fantasy owners something that only a handful of others in the league can. That is the ability to make plays with their feet allowing them to find the end zone as well as top the 100 yard mark.

Wilson put together the top fantasy performance in week 7 during his attempt to help lead the Seahawks past the St. Louis Rams. In the end his big time fantasy performance was enough to help only his fantasy owners. The Seahawks quarterback finished with 313 yards passing with two touchdowns and added 106 yards on seven carries with one rushing touchdown.

This week Wilson gets a shot at a Carolina Panthers defense that has allowed the sixth most fantasy points to the quarterback position.  Wilson should be able to work to find his receivers in the end zone as the Panthers have allowed 15 touchdown passes this season.

Now Wilson isn’t the only quarterback in the league who can top the 100 yard mark. The Panthers quarterback was able to accomplish the same feat two weeks ago against the Cincinnati Bengals. Newton finished the day with 284 yards passing with two touchdowns and added 107 yards with one rushing touchdown.

Much like Wilson, Newton gets his shot at Seahawks defense that will attempt to slow him down but he should be able to make some plays. The Seahawks defense has only two interceptions on the season against 12 touchdown passes.

Here are the rest of the top fantasy plays for week 8.

Aaron Rodgers, Green Bay Packers: Rodgers might be the league MVP to this point after his recent stretch of four games. The Packers quarterback has three straight games with at least three touchdowns and hasn’t thrown an interception since week 1 of the season. Jordy Nelson and Randall Cobb are must plays as well coming into this weekend the pair have each caught at least one touchdown over the same four game stretch.

Matt Forte, Chicago Bears: The Bears running back has a combined 100 yards in every game but two games early on against two very solid run defenses. Entering the Bears week 8 game, Forte has 448 yards on the ground with three touchdowns and has added 52 receptions for 436 yards with two touchdowns in the passing game.

Ben Tate, Cleveland Browns: The Cleveland Browns running back is set for a big fantasy game in week 8 against the Oakland Raiders. Tate has had an up and down season since returning from an injury but should have an opportunity to make some plays. The Raiders enter this game allowing the second most fantasy points to running backs in the NFL with over 1,000 combined yards and eight touchdowns.

Cordarrelle Patterson, Minnesota Vikings: Patterson is having a down year but the talented and speedy wide receiver has the ability to take it to the house on any play. This week he gets a shot at a Tampa Bay Buccaneers defense that has been scorched over the past few weeks including allowing five touchdown passes to Joe Flacco two weeks ago.

Other notable players to start: Joique Bell,  Doug Baldwin and Greg Olson.
