Top 5 Fantasy Hockey Right Wingers


 

The right wing and center positions have traditionally been the stronger forward positions in terms of fantasy stats.  Listed below are the top 5 fantasy right-wingers and their stats and accomplishments so far this season.

#1 Jakob Voracek – Philadelphia Flyers – Voracek is the top line right wing of a surprising Flyers’ offence this year; with a line consisting of Claude Giroux centering Braden Schenn and Voracek.  Voracek has put up 9 goals, 23 assists for 32 points in 23 games played so far; which is currently 2nd in the NHL behind Sidney Crosby.  Voracek has also a +5 rating, 12 PIM, 3 PPG, 12 PPP, 1 GWG and 74 shots.  Philadelphia has scored 61 goals for in the 23 games they have played, meaning that Voracek has factored in on 52.5% of his teams goals.

#2 Vladimir Tarasenko – St. Louis Blues – Tarasenko is currently St. Louis’ top line right-wing playing with center Jori Lehtera and left wing Alex Steen.  Tarasenko has 14 goals, 12 assists for 26 points in 24 games played, which is ranked 7th in the NHL.  He has a +17 rating (2nd in NHL), 11 PIM, 3 PPG, 7 PPP, 3 GWG (including 2 in OT) and 91 shots.  Tarasenko has factored in on 41.3% of the Blues’ 63 total goals on the season.

#3 Patric Hornqvist – Pittsburg Penguins – Hornqvist has been playing on the top line for Pittsburg centered by Sidney Crosby and left wing Nick Spaling.  Hornqvist has 11 goals, 14 assists for 25 points in 23 games played ranking 10th in the NHL.  He also has a +8 rating, 8 PIM, 4 PPG, 11 PPP, 2 GWG and has taken 85 shots.  Pittsburg is the second highest scoring team in the NHL and Hornqvist has contributed on 31.6% of the goals for his team.

#4 Phil Kessel – Toronto Maple Leafs – Kessel is currently playing with James van Riemsdyk and Tyler Bozak on Toronto’s top line.  Kessel has 11 goals and 14 assists for 25 points in 23 games, the same as Hornqvist however his other stats are not as good.  Kessel has a -1 rating, 6 PIM, 2 PPG, 8 PPP, 2 GWG and 77 shots.  Toronto is the 3rd highest scoring team in the NHL and Kessel has factored in on 32.9% of his teams 76 goals.

#5 Patrick Kane – Chicago Blackhawks – Kane plays on the second line for Chicago with Brad Richards and Kris Versteeg.  Kane has 10 goals, 13 assists for 23 points in 24 games, which has him sitting in 15th in NHL scoring.  Kane also has a +3 rating, 0 PIM, 3 PPG, 11 PPP, 3 GWG and 74 shots on the season.  Of note is that even though he is listed as he second line center for Chicago he averages approximately 2 minutes more per game than the 4 players listed above.

Honorable mention right-wingers go to Alexander Ovechkin – Washington Capitals (12g, 9a, 21p), Ryan Callahan – Tampa Bay Lightning (11g, 10a, 21p), Nikita Kucherov – Tampa Bay Lightning (9g, 12a, 21p).
