Top Fantasy Rookies for the 2015-2016 NFL Season

The 2015 NFL Season is still a few months away as the bulk of summer has yet to arrive. That being said it is never to early to start doing your prep work for your upcoming fantasy draft as well as your first week on daily fantasy sites like FanDuel and DraftKings.

That gave us a chance to think about a few pieces that could help every fantasy football player get ready for the upcoming season. The first area we wanted to take a look at is the top 2015 NFL rookies that will make a big time impact in the upcoming season.

As we saw last year from a handful of the offensive rookies who burst on to the NFL scene. One of those fantasy rookie studs was Odell Beckham Jr despite missing the first four games of the season and another great option was Mike Evans for the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.

Here are a few of the top rookie fantasy options in 2015.

Jameis Winston, Tampa Bay Buccaneers: Now before we get to Winston we wouldn’t recommend grabbing him as your first quarterback but if he is available in the later rounds he would make a perfect backup. That being said how could you pass on a quarterback that features two stud wide receivers in the six foot four inch range as well as a tight end? Along with his receiving corps, the Buccaneers have a solid running game built around Doug Martin if he can stay healthy. Winston should be able to put up some fantasy numbers in his rookie season.

Maxx Williams, Baltimore Ravens: While we aren’t quite sure how the Ravens offense will run now that Marc Trestman has taking over as offensive coordinator. One thing is for sure and that is Joe Flacco loves connecting with his tight ends starting back as a rookie with Todd Heap then followed to Dennis Pitta as well as Owen Daniels last season. Williams might not put up the same type of production as a Rob Gronkowski but he should surprise many as a late fantasy option in drafts as well as a cheap option in daily fantasy leagues.

Buck Allen, Baltimore Ravens: Allen makes the list to join his teammate Williams. Only question at this point is how much involvement he will have after the team gave Justin Forsett a multi year contract. That being said we saw the past few seasons the way Trestman likes to work his running backs into the passing game something that Allen has shown he can do. Not quite sure I would draft him in leagues but keep an eye on how he does over the preseason. He could be a nice sleeper option week 1 on FanDuel or DraftKings.

Melvin Gordon, San Diego Chargers: The Chargers should have a solid offensive attack in 2015 with Philip Rivers at the quarterback position. Now they will turn to the former Wisconsin Badger to take over the running duties after losing Ryan Matthews in free agency. Gordon will benefit from having one of the top quarterbacks in the league throwing him passes. From a season long league we recommend waiting a few rounds before taking the gamble but a grab in the fourth or fifth round would be a steal we wouldn’t pass up.

Nelson Agholor, Philadelphia Eagles: Now that Jeremy Maclin has departed, Chip Kelly will look to get Agholor the ball as much as possible. Despite having Jordan Mathews on the team, Agholor might be the top option based on his ability to run routes and make plays after having the ball in his hands. Look for Agholor to be one of the top rookie wide receivers in 2015.

Ameer Abdullah, Detroit Lions: Could the Lions actually have a running back that puts up a 1,000 yards in 2015? That could be the case with the former Nebraska running back they drafted in the 2015 NFL draft. Abdullah might not get a chance early but look for him to come on strong as a solid option to split carries with Joique Bell. We have also seen over the past few seasons that Bell has had troubles staying healthy.
