FanDuel MLB Lineup for Wednesday August 5th

The fantasy action continues to be red hot on FanDuel as the 2015 Major League Baseball season continues through the dog days of Summer. This is the same this Hump Day as we all look to cash in on some daily fantasy baseball action on FanDuel on August 5th, 2015.

For us the starting point to our lineup on Wednesday was Los Angeles Dodgers first baseman Adrian Gonzalez. Despite lacking the power bat of late, Gonzalez is still one of the top fantasy options at first base. That is still true on Wednesday, as he will face off against Aaron Harang of the Philadelphia Phillies.

The Dodgers first baseman is batting .435 for his career off of Harang with 10 hits in 23 at bats. Those 10 hits include five extra base hits including three home runs to go along with eight runs batted in. Gonzalez has picked up hits over his last ten games but has no home runs over that course.

After Gonzalez, we turned our attention to starting pitching including Carlos Martinez for the St. Louis Cardinals, Madison Bumgarner for the San Francisco Giants and fantasy sleeper David Phelps for the Miami Marlins. Other top options include Matt Harvey, Gio Gonzalez and Dan Haren.

Here is our FanDuel Lineup for August 5th, 2015.

Starting Pitcher – Carlos Martinez ($9,900): We tossed and turned on whether not to use Madison Bumgarner or Carlos Martinez. We ended up going with Martinez to save us $1,500 in salary. Martinez will be facing off against a Cincinnati Reds team that is hitting just .177 off of him with on three extra base hits in 62 at bats.

Option 2 – Madison Bumgarner ($11,400) & David Phelps ($5,900):

Catcher – Derek Norris ($2,700): The San Diego Padres catcher is currently riding a four game hitting streak. In that stretch, Norris has nine hits including one double, one home run and six runs batted in.

Option 2 – Buster Posey ($4,800) & Jonathan Lucroy ($2,700)

First Base – Adrian Gonzalez ($3,300): Gonzalez was a simple play for us based on his current cheap salary as well as his past success against Aaron Harang. Another option we like on Wednesday Night is Anthony Rizzo for the Chicago Cubs with four career extra base hits against Jeff Locke.

Option 2 – Anthony Rizzo ($4,100) & Kendrys Morales ($2,900)

Second Base – Kolten Wong ($3,000) – The St. Louis Cardinals second baseman is putting together a big season in 2015. Through his first 102 games, Wong has 20 doubles, two triples and 11 home runs to go with 44 runs batted in. Add in the fact he is batting at Great American Ball Park makes him an excellent play on Wednesday.

Option 2 – Scooter Gennett ($2,300) & Howie Kendrick ($3,100)

Third Base – Chris Johnson ($2,600): We suggest only using Johnson if you elect to stay away from Bumgarner. Johnson is eight for 21 in his career against the San Francisco Giants starter with three extra base hits.

Option 2 – Luis Valbeuna ($3,100) & Yangervis Solarte ($3,200)

Short Stop – Brandon Crawford ($3,500): We love to ride players on a hot streak or coming off a big time fantasy performance. That is the case with Crawford who picked up two home runs and finished with 12.25 fantasy points on Monday Night.

Option 2 – Troy Tulowitzki ($4,500) & Didi Gregorius ($2,900)

Outfielder – Jonny Gomes ($2,200): Gomes is one of our Fantasy Bargains for the night giving you some salary cap relief. We always suggest monitoring the lineup to ensure he will be in the lineup. Gomes is seven for 10 for his career off of Bumgarner with two home runs and four runs driven in.

Outfielder – Josh Hamilton ($2,800): Sticking with players with solid track records against starters they are facing on Wednesday landed us with Hamilton. The Rangers outfielder is seven for 19 off of Scott Kazmir with two home runs and six runs driven in.

Outfielder – Jose Bautista ($4,700): While we aren’t in love with using Bautista we do love his power potential at home. That being said if you are looking to spend more expensive at one of the other positions feel free to use one of our other cheaper options here.

Option 4 – Shin-Soo Choo ($3,600), Option 5 – Norichika Aoki ($2,600) & Option 6 – Matt Kemp ($3,300)
