Fantasy Football is Back: Comparing Your DFS Choices

Hey, you. Welcome back. It’s fantasy football time and all is right in the world again. It’s been a long, grueling summer without football and all we’ve had to hear about is deflated footballs. So naturally, you’re even more anxious than usual to get back into football – and you should be! Finally, we can just hear about the games. But before you dive in, let’s take a look at what’s on the table. DFS has made some major strides since the last football season began, so let’s make sure you’re playing on the site that’s right for you. After all, you do want to win money, right? Let’s do this.

We’re gonna break down 4 of the best sites to play on this year, give you the ups and downs, the pros and cons and overall rating. I’ll lay out the information for a $10 contest on each site and then you decided what’s best for you. After all, only you know what’s best for you (except maybe your mom, but she probably doesn’t play DFS. But she should!).

DraftKings

Rosters consist of 9 players: 1 QB, 2 RB, 3 WR, 1 Flex, 1 TE and 1 Defense. Depending on the style of contest you’re playing, you can really take risks when you have multiple players at a position (RB, WR) and look to hit a homerun that will win your contest. DraftKings is one of the biggest names in DFS and draws lots of top talent. You don’t want to be lazy when playing here, especially in $10 contests in up. You’ll most likely find yourself in the jaws of a shark – and by then, it’s too late.

FanDuel

The rosters here are the same as DK, but add a kicker. Honestly, this just adds random variance – can anyone really predict how well kickers will do from week to week? If this is your style (or if you’ve cracked the code to predicting kickers), step on up. Remember though, FanDuel is big time and attracts big time players, so make sure you’re paying attention when setting your lineups!

Fantasy Aces

Games here are a small step down from the big boys. Less notoriety, smaller games (many DK and FD games literally have thousands of players) and slightly less stiff competition. This is a great place to get your feet wet. Fantasy Aces uses 2 each of QB, RB, WR and Flex as well as 1 TE and 1 Defense. This gives you a little more flexibility at QB than the other sites.

Draft Hero

Games are a bit different at Draft Hero. You pick 1 of each position (QB, RB, WR, TE and Flex) from a pre-selected pool of players and face a small pool of opponents. There’s not much room for error here with just 5 players, miss on one and you’re probably not placing this week. But, your opponents have the same odds. This unorthodox style has a smaller community than traditional DFS and attracts fewer pros, helping you learn the game with a better chance at cashing.
