Fantasy Football Week #2 Recap

draftkings king of the beach NFL contest

Week 2 of the NFL season is behind us, and we witnessed an onslaught of injuries to some key Fantasy players. The list includes top tier names such as Jamaal Charles, A.J. Green, RG3, Knowshon Moreno, and Ryan Matthews. Throw in the fact that Adrian Peterson was inactive, and you have a complete week 2 bust for several Fantasy owners. With many players availability in the air, and Adrian Peterson apparently done for the season, the waiver wire is full of week 3 additions. We are going to take a look at week 2 backups that delivered, and may deliver for you in week 3.

Kirk Cousins– Cousins entered the game after a first quarter ankle injury sent Robert Griffith to the locker room. Cousins delivered as he always does in this role, and led the Redskins to a blowout victory over the hopeless Jacksonville Jaguars. Cousins threw for 250 yards and 2 touchdowns in Sunday’s blowout, and he is currently owned in a meager 17% of leagues. With RG3 out for a substantial amount of time, and bye weeks starting in week 4, Kirk Cousins is a very viable addition to your Fantasy Football roster.

Matt Asiata– Asiata posted 84 total yards and caught a touchdown pass in relief of suspended Adrian Peterson. Late Tuesday the Vikings announced that Peterson had been placed on the NFL Exempt/Commissioner’s Permission list, and would be barred from all team activities and facilities. This announcement leaves Matt Asiata in the driver’s seat for the time being, and we expect him to post good numbers against the New Orleans Saints in week 3. Asiata is currently owned in about 11% of leagues, but expect that number to jump quickly.

Knile Davis– Former Arkansas Razorback Knile Davis, entered Sunday’s game after Jamaal Charles went down with an apparent high ankle sprain. Davis proceeded to rack up 22 carries, 79 yards, and two scores against the Broncos, on his way to a 20 point Fantasy outing. Davis is currently owned in 73% of leagues as of Wednesday morning. With the uncertainty surrounding the Charles injury, we suggest nabbing Davis if he is still available in your league.

Mohamed Sanu- Sanu had a monster game for the Bengals after A.J. Green left early against the Falcons. Sanu racked up 84 yards and a score on his way to a 20 point outing in Fantasy. Green said he was optimistic about playing against Tennessee, but with the Bengals sitting at 2-0 and a bye week coming in week 4, we would not be surprised to see Marvin Lewis give his stud receiver a two week rest for that toe injury. Sanu is currently owned in fewer than 6% of Fantasy leagues. If you have A.J. Green as a starting receiver, grab Sanu now, before it’s too late.
