The wonders of Fantasy Baseball Shutouts

The shutout was kind to fantasy owners around the game of baseball over the past couple weeks. This includes a handful of complete game shutouts, including pitching gems thrown by Chris Tillman, Masahiro Tanaka and Johnny Cueto to name a few of them. These are the types of games that not only help owners of full season fantasy leagues, but are even more important for daily fantasy players.

Cueto might be the hottest pitcher in the league pitching to a 1.25 earned run average in his first nine starts of the season. This includes two complete game shutouts and another eight inning outing with zero runs allowed. The other key stat is the fact that Cueto has gone at least seven innings in every start with at least four strikeouts. In his last outing Cueto shut out the San Diego Padres, allowing only three hits while striking out eight batters. Cueto’s next three starts come against the Washington Nationals (2-0 with a 2.57 earned run average in three career starts), Los Angeles Dodgers (1-1 with a 2.14 earned run average in three career starts) and Arizona Diamondbacks (2-1 with a 4.67 earned run average in three career starts).
