The start of the 2018 MLB Schedule is just around the corner as DFS owners begin to prepare for an action packed fantasy season on FanDuel. That action begins for those DFS owners on Thursday March 29th, 2018 loaded with options to build around as 24 teams will be in action starting at 3:05pm ET.

As we get set for opening day and the first day of the DFS fantasy action we will be taking a deeper look at the top options to consider on the mound, at the plate as well as some key strategies and tips to consider when building your DFS lineups not only on opening day but during the entire 2018 MLB schedule.

Today we will begin by taking a look at some key DFS Strategies to consider in your daily approach when building your DFS lineups on FanDuel, or any other DFS websites. Now depending whether you are looking to cash in on Cash lineups or GPP tournaments you may have to tweak your final approach. That said let’s take a quick look at some of our best MLB DFS strategies.

All About the Pitcher

The key to building a winning Cash or GPP lineup is finding the key starting pitcher to build around. Now while some DFS owners may tend to lean towards the top starter on the slate in cash lineups while taking a gamble on a starter in GPP formats. While this may be preference for some, we have found that you should take the similar approach when building either lineup as the chalk play may be the best option in cash lineups but an even better option in GPP lineups. Now before you wonder how they can be a better play is in GPP lineups some DFS owners shy away from the chalk play as they expect more owners to turn to them. In the end it doesn’t matter what style league you are joining, you will want to spend at the pitcher position each night if you want to have a winning 2018 DFS season.

Spend the Cash at the Premier Positions

Now you might say that every position is a premier position but for DFS lineups that is not the case in both GPP and Cash Lineups. In reality there are a few positions I look to spend less on each night while freeing up some additional cash to spend at other positions. One position we tend to spend cheaper at is the catcher position where many of the top DFS options can cost you as much as a top tier first baseman or even another infield. Along with catcher, we also look to use one of the outfielder slots to bargain hunt to also free up cash while depending on the night second baseman can also be a great position to save at. While those positions are solid ones to bargain hunt positions like first base, third base and at least one outfield slot is where you should look to spend along with the starting pitcher you select.

Play Against the Vegas Line

Yes, you read that correct, play against the Vegas Line. While many DFS owners use the lines to build rosters based on the heavier lines in Vegas, this could give you a competitive advantage when building your lineup. For instance, the Colorado Rockies and Los Angeles Dodgers are facing off with a total run line of 10. This should increase the usage of guys from both lineups, in return you should stay away from this matchup. While we tend to lean to this approach, if playing the Vegas line works for you than you should stick to the course.

Use the Stats that are Available

When building your MLB DFS lineup, you will have a ton of options on most nights to build around. That said you should take the time to look at the stats and numbers that are provided by the many different sports and fantasy websites. Here are some of the key stats we like to pay attention to each day.
