DraftKings Fantasy Golf U.S Open Preview

The Wells Fargo Championship is in the books as we all being our fantasy preparations for the upcoming US open in the middle of June. While many of the daily fantasy participants who play on DraftKings by now know they like to give away a top prize of a million dollars. This happened multiple times during the regular season and already once this year with the Masters tournament for the PGA Tour.

For anyone that might not be a daily fantasy sports player now is your chance to turn a onetime $20 play in to a top prize of a million dollars. Now if you play daily fantasy sports and have yet to take a chance with any of the DraftKings PGA tour contests you have a few entries along the way before the PGA $2.5 Millionaire Maker US Open event.

We will keep you updated along the way with some key players who have performed well of late and a cheat sheet on what you might want to know as this event approaches. Today we will take a look at a few different areas including who has done well of late.

Rory McIlory:  McIlory dominated his way to the Wells Fargo title this weekend in Charlotte. The win marked his second title at the Wells Fargo Championship and his 11th PGA Tour Title in his career. The 26 year old PGA tour star shot a 70 on Thursday but followed that up with a 67 on Friday a record 61 and a 69 on Sunday. The impressive four day performance landed McIlory at 21 under a new course record. In total McIlory has played seven tournaments for the PGA and two European Tournaments in 2015. In all Rory has posted in the top 10 in seven of those events only missing the cut in February at the Honda Classic.

Jimmy Walker: Now we know everyone wants to jump on the big names like Rory, Tiger Woods and even Phil Mickelson. That being said  you will be working within a salary cap format so the names you might not know of now might be the ones that cash in for your next month during the US open. Walker is currently 2nd in the FedEx Cup rankings and 12th overall in the official world rankings. During the 2015 PGA Tour Season, Walker has won two tournaments, placed second once and has finished in the top 10 5 times.

Rickie Fowler: Fowler is coming off an impressive win at The Players Championship just last weekend as he shot a 12 under par for the four days. Fowler shot back to back 69’s before a 71 on Saturday and a 67 on Sunday before needing to take home the tournament in a playoff. On the season Fowler has placed in the Top 10 three times, top 25 a total of 5 times and has only missed the cut one time. Last season Fowler finished tied for second at one under as Martin Kaymer cruised to an eight shot victory.

Jordan Spieth:  Spieth will be a very popular name for fantasy owners during the entire 2015 PGA tour season as well as during the US Open. Currently Spieth is ranked number one on the FedEx Cup rankings board as well as 2nd overall in the Official World Golf Rankings. On the year Spieth has played in 13 events taking first in two and finished second two times as well. Overall he has seven top 10 performances this season and 10 in the top 25. His most impressive performance was at the Masters taking home the green jacket at 10 under. This will be his fourth appearance at the US Open finishing 17th last season after missing the cut in 2013 and a 21st place performance in 2012.

Here are a few other PGA tour golfers to keep an eye on including J.B. Holmes, Patrick Reed and Robert Streb as well as the big names like Bubba Watson, Tiger Woods and Dustin Johnson.
