The fantasy season is heating up for Daily Fantasy owners with a solid slate of fantasy action to jump in to. The first week of the 2016 Major League Baseball season is underway, the NBA and NHL season is approaching playoff time while the Masters get underway tomorrow.

In the end we couldn’t pass up the opportunity to cash in on the Major League Baseball season. Tonight’s lineup of MLB contest features seven contests taking the diamond including a few divisional contests. Those contests feature the St. Louis Cardinals taking on the Pittsburgh Pirates, the Washington Nationals verse the Atlanta Braves and the Los Angeles Dodgers taking on the San Diego Padres.

Looking at those contests we have a ton of solid fantasy options to build our MLB FanDuel around. One of those options is Adrian Gonzalez for the Dodgers based on his past success against Andrew Cashner. In his career Gonzalez has picked up 11 hits in 32 career at bats including four home runs and six runs batted in.

Along with Gonzalez the first base position has a few other top tier fantasy options to consider including Freddie Freeman for the Braves. Freeman has hit Stephen Strasburg well for his career picking up 12 hits over 28 at bats with three home runs and nine runs batted in.

Meanwhile the big question for us is which starter will step up and help carry the load tonight. Top option looks to be Strasburg but he has struggled in his career against the Braves allowing 24 hits in 84 at bats including six home runs, seven walks and 15 runs batted in. The other top option is Andrew Cashner for the Padres who has also struggled against the Dodgers in his career allowing them to bat .313 in 115 at bats including five home runs and ten runs batted in.

Here is our MLB FanDuel lineup for Wednesday April 6th, 2016.

P – Kenta Maeda ($7,200): While we considered going with Sonny Gray tonight but concerns with how he will rebound after missing the opener due to food poisoning. Maeda was solid during the spring and we expect him to continue that success tonight against the Padres.

C – A.J. Ellis ($2,400): After picking up 18 fantasy points in his first game of the season the Dodgers catcher will look to continue that success tonight. Ellis is seven for 14 in his career off of Cashner making him a great fantasy sleeper tonight.

1B – Adrian Gonzalez ($3,400): We couldn’t pass up the opportunity to use Gonzalez tonight against the Padres. Gonzalez has been hot to start the season picking up four hits and three runs batted in over his first two games.

2B – Jonathan Schoop ($2,400): The Baltimore Orioles second baseman is one of our break out fantasy options this season. Schoop opened the season with a double and a walk to finish the game with nine fantasy points.

3B – David Freese ($2,600): Based on his past success against Mike Leake makes him a solid fantasy bargain. Freese has eight hits in 16 at bats including three extra base hits.

SS – Jordy Mercer ($2,300): Looking at fantasy bargains at the shortstop position landed us with Mercer. The Pittsburgh Pirates short stop has three hits over his first eight at bats with two runs batted in and a run scored.

OF – Bryce Harper ($5,200): Harper might be the easiest fantasy option among all of the players taking the field tonight. After picking up the NL MVP last year Harper continued that success with a home run and 30 fantasy points to open the season.

OF – Mark Trumbo ($3,000): After being traded from the Seattle Mariners to the Baltimore Orioles, Trumbo fantasy stock continued to rise. Trumbo rewarded his fantasy owner with 18 fantasy points after picking up four hits in five at bats in the teams 3-2 win on opening day.

OF – Yasiel Puig ($3,200): After missing time last season, Puig has rebounded to open up the regular season. The Dodgers outfielder has picked up 21 and 30 fantasy points in his first two games with two triples, three runs batted in and four runs scored.
