A Close Look at the 2016 Fantasy Golf US Open

Draftkings Golf Free Entry 30-04-2016

The countdown to the next big PGA Major of the year tees off on June 16th, 2016. While it is weeks away it is still just around the corner giving us enough time to put together a winning lineup for the 2016 US Open that can take home the top prize of a $1million dollars on DraftKings.

While the salaries are yet uploaded and you can’t officially build a lineup for the US Open but you can reserve your spot for the $3.5 Million Fantasy Golf Millionaire. Now as we start to look at the potential face of our DraftKings PGA lineup the one name that comes to mind is Jordan Spieth who won the US Open last season.

Along with his US Open Championship last year, Spieth has been good over his last four events of the 2016 PGA Season. One of those performances came at the Shell Houston Open when he shot an eight under for the tournament. Spieth continued that hot stretch a week later at the Masters finishing in second place after having the lead entering the final day of the tournament.

Other names that DraftKings owners will be looking at include Jason Day, Adam Scott, Rory McIlroy and Bubba Watson to anchor their lineup. That being said this gives us a chance to take a look at a few other golfers who have performed well to this point that could provide us with some fantasy bargains as well as potential sleeper picks.

Here are a few PGA Golfers that have performed well to start the season that could play a key role on any fantasy golf lineup at the US Open.

Danny Willett – Just as we all thought Spieth would add another Masters to his resume, Willett responded with a five under fourth round to take home the Green Jacket. Willett has played well over his last four events outside of match play finishing with two third place finishes before his first place finish at the Masters.

Branden Grace – Now an interesting case who could be a nice fantasy sleeper is Grace who has had an up and down year to date. Grace who has placed in the top 10 in three of his nine events this season took home the RBC Heritage just a weekend after missing the cut at the Masters. Than a week later Grace finished 9th at the Valero Texas Open after firing a 69 and 67 over the weekend. Early in the year Grace placed 1st, 5th and 4th in three straight European Tournaments.

Patrick Reed – Reed might be the hottest golfer of the 2016 PGA season taking hom eight top ten finishes over his 13 events to start the season. While Reed struggled to a +12 at the Masters this season, he rebounded just two weeks later with a second place finish at the Valero Texas Open. Last year Reed placed in the top 30 in all four majors while finishing 14th at the US Open showing everyone he can compete on the top stage.

Kevin Chappell – The last sleeper we are keeping our eyes on leading up to the US Open is Chappell. Despite missing the cut at the Masters, Chappell has played extremely well before and after the 1st Major of the Season. Chappell picked up a 2nd place finish at the Arnold Palmer Invitational before finishing 9th at the RBC Heritage and 4th at the Valero Texas Open.
