NFL FanDuel Lineup for Week 5 of the 2017 Fantasy Football Season

Fanduel NFL play with a playmate contest 19-09-2017

The NFL Schedule rolls into Week 5 as the first quarter of the 2017 Season is in the books. Luckily for Daily Fantasy Football owners the action is just starting to heat up as another action-packed Sunday is just a few days away. This includes a prime-time opportunity to cash in big on FanDuel as they look to give away $500k to one lucky Daily Fantasy Football owner in their $2.2 Sunday Million contest.

As we start to look at this Sunday’s matchups, a few things stand out and could play a key role in the design of our team. One thing that will play a key role is the fact Week 5 opens up the first week of byes around the NFL. This will limit the amount of options including behind center this week as we won’t be able to turn to either Drew Brees or Matt Ryan. The second key that could play a key role is the fact that Tom Brady won’t be available for us to build around either as his week is over after taking the field on Thursday Night Football.

Now with that said here is a look at a few of the key defenses that we should be able to take advantage of this week as we look to build some key offenses stacks during Week 5.

Indianapolis Colts (2nd most YPG allowed & Most PPG allowed)

Now ideally you might not look to the San Francisco 49ers on most weeks to try to build around but this week could be a key week to look to Brian Hoyer, Carlos Hyde and even Pierre Garcon as they look to take on a struggling Colts defense. The Colts enter Week 5 allowing a league high 34 points a game while allowing the fourth most passing yards per contest and 11th most rushing yards.

Philadelphia Eagles (3rd most passing yards per game)

If you are looking to find a solid passing tandem this week you could turn to the Arizona Cardinals to lock up a few key options. One of those options is Carson Palmer who carries a fantasy salary of just $7,200 while wide receivers Larry Fitzgerald and Jaron Brown look primed for a big-time fantasy performance.

Here is our Daily Fantasy Football Options we like for Week 5 of the 2017 NFL Season.

2017 NFL Daily Fantasy Football Options Week 5

Quarterback – Carson Palmer

Despite his Week 1 struggles, Palmer has turned out to be a solid option for Daily Fantasy Football owners this season. Over the past three games, Palmer has thrown for at least 325 yards per contest with at least one touchdown pass. This week Palmer will look to take advantage of an Eagles defense that is allowing 285 passing yards. Over the past two weeks the Eagles have allowed nearly 20 and 24 fantasy points to Philip Rivers and Eli Manning.

Other Top Quarterback Options – Aaron Rodgers
Sleeper Options – Brian Hoyer & Jay Cutler
Potential Bust – Ben Roethlisberger

Running Backs – J.D. McKissic & Le’Veon Bell

When we turned to the running back position we could honestly go a few different directions including going with Bell and Kareem Hunt. In the end, we love the matchup for McKissic as well as Eddie Lacy against a Los Angeles Rams team that has allowed 560 rushing yards and six touchdowns to opposing running backs this season. Meanwhile, the Pittsburgh Steelers may lean to Bell after his big-time fantasy performance last week to take advantage of Jacksonville Jaguars team that has allowed four rushing touchdowns on the season.

Other Top Running Back Options – Kareem Hunt & LeSean McCoy
Sleeper Options – Elijah McGuire & Aaron Jones
Potential Bust – Todd Gurley & Ezekiel Elliott

Wide Receivers – Odell Beckham Jr, Dez Bryant & Larry Fitzgerald

The wide receiver position continues to be the one area where you could go a bunch of different ways including going with two or even three of the top options. For us while we took a gamble with our GPP play in McKissic, it allowed us a chance to team up three of the games biggest stars at wide receiver. Beckham enters this week with no injury designation and we expect the Giants to throw the ball around a lot in a game against a Los Angeles Chargers team that could come out throwing from the start. Meanwhile in Dallas, the Cowboys will need Bryant to come up big as they look to keep up with Aaron Rodgers and the Green Bay Packers offense. As for Fitzgerald, we could also swap him out with another GPP sleeper Jaron Brown to free up cap space to go more expensive at the running back position. None of the three have stellar matchups but all could make the big plays needed.

Other Top Wide Receiver Options – Jordy Nelson, Tyreek Hill, DeVante Parker & Pierre Garcon
Sleeper Options – Trent Taylor, Kenny Stills & Jaron Brown
Potential Bust – A.J. Green & Antonio Brown

Tight End – Austin Seferian-Jenkins

Looking at the matchups landed us with the New York Jets tight end as he looks to take advantage of a Cleveland Browns defense that has struggled against opposing tight ends. Entering Week 5 the Browns have allowed 30 receptions to opposing tight ends for 270 yards and four touchdowns. Another option we like this weekend is Hunter Henry who has another solid matchup against the New York Giants defense.

Other Top Tight End Options – Zach Ertz & Travis Kelce
Sleeper Option – Jesse James
Potential Bust – Jimmy Graham

Kicker – Graham Gano

What happened to some of the game’s best field goal kickers from last season? Each week we weant to lean on Justin Tucker but the Baltimore Ravens offense has been horrible to start the season while Mason Crosby has not had the opportunity as the Packers continue to put the ball in the end zone. For us this week we turn to Gano who has some success early on and should have a chance to knock some kicks down inside the dome against a Detroit Lions team that has allowed the ball to be moved on them at times this season.

Other Kicker Options – Mason Crosby & Adam Vinatieri

Defense – Pittsburgh Steelers

For us this week it simply came down to two teams we really liked on the defensive side of the ball. Those teams are the Steelers who take on a suspect Jacksonville Jaguars offense and the Miami Dolphins who take on a Tennessee Titans team that could be without Marcus Mariota who is dealing with an injury. In the end both teams rank in the top five in total defense and only cost $100 different but we like the Steelers potential against Blake Bortles.

Other Defensive Options – Miami Dolphins & Baltimore Ravens
