Top Fantasy Starters For Today – August 21, 2014

Corey Kluber, Clayton Kershaw top fantasy starters for Thursday August 21st. The MLB schedule is very light today as only 16 teams are in play for today. Kluber will look to lower his 2.41 earned run average against the Minnesota Twins.

The 28 year old Kluber has been dominate for the Indians over his past six games allowing two or fewer runs in each start.Three of the six starts Kluber yielded zero earned runs and lasted at least six innings in each start. The fantasy stats don’t stop their as he has posted at least 10 strikeouts in four of six starts.

In Los Angeles Clayton Kershaw takes the mound for the Dodgers against the San Diego Padres. Kershaw dominated the Padres on July 10th allowing one earned run during his 11 strikeout complete game.

Kluber and Kershaw are just a few options today for fantasy starters.

Corey Kluber, Cleveland Indians: Kluber has been one of the American Leagues top starters this season pitching to a 13-6 record and a 2.41 earned run average with 197 strikeouts. Kluber has the fourth most strikeouts this season with seven game of double digit strikeouts.

Clayton Kershaw, Los Angeles Dodgers: In his last 10 starts, Kershaw has four complete games with seven wins for the Dodgers. Kershaw has yielded less than three earned runs in each start during that stretch of starts. The MLB earned run leader has 14 starts with at least eight strikeouts.

David Price, Detroit Tigers: The Tigers starting pitcher gets his shot at his former team the Tampa Bay Rays today. Price is coming off his best start with the Tigers since being acquired at the trade deadline. In that start Price lasted eight innings allowing only one earned run and striking out seven while picking up his 12th win of the 2014 season.

Brandon McCarthy, New York Yankees: Since being acquired by theYankees McCarthy has been the Yankees top starter. In seven starts with the Yankees McCarthy has six games with at least two or fewer runs. McCarthy has pitched to a 4-2 record and a 2.30 earned run average.

Tyson Ross, San Diego Padres: Ross has made three starts against the Dodgers this season allowing only six earned runs over 19 innings. The only problem with going with Ross has been the teams ability to score runs for him against the Dodgers. In each of his starts, Ross has picked up the loss with the Padres scoring a combined three runs in all three games.
